What Crunchyroll costs in 2026
In February 2026 Crunchyroll raised prices by two euros and at the same time dropped the ad-supported free tier for new series. Since then, current simulcasts need a subscription:

The former “Ultimate Fan” tier is not sold in Germany. Both plans are ad-free and include the full catalogue and same-day simulcasts.
Crunchyroll and sharing
Mega Fan allows four simultaneous streams and is explicitly designed for several people. In our experience Crunchyroll does not enforce a household rule the way Netflix or Disney+ do, and there is no extra member. That is exactly why Mega Fan groups are so common on sharing platforms: four slots at €2.96 add up to €11.84 – almost exactly the Mega Fan price.

Against the Fan plan the shared slot saves €72.36 a year, against Mega Fan €108.36 – while giving you the Mega Fan features. Among streaming services, Crunchyroll has the widest gap between the individual price and a shared slot.
Which route fits
- You watch alone and regularly? The shared slot at €2.96 – ad-free, downloads, every simulcast.
- Three or four anime fans? Your own Mega Fan plan at €11.99, split – €3.00 each, with no platform in between.
- Just one season? One month of Fan at €8.99, then cancel.
- Japanese audio with subtitles on release day? Included in every plan – no difference between Fan, Mega Fan and a shared slot.
What you accept with a shared slot
- Four streams for four people. If everyone watches at once, the fourth stream is taken. Rare in practice, but possible.
- One watchlist per profile. Crunchyroll allows up to five profiles with their own watchlist and history; you get one of them.
- You are not the account holder. Payment details and e-mail belong to the group account.
- Regional catalogues. The group account determines the country; on GamsGo these are usually German or European accounts with the same catalogue. A VPN changes nothing and is not needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is Crunchyroll still free?
Not for current series since February 2026. The ad-supported access was discontinued; without a plan only a few older titles remain.
Do I get simulcasts on the same day?
Yes, on every plan and therefore on a shared slot too.
Does Crunchyroll work on TVs and consoles?
Yes, with the normal login in the Crunchyroll app – smart TV, Fire TV, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch.
What about the Crunchyroll Store discount and manga?
The Mega Fan store discount is tied to the account, not the profile, and is not available to a shared slot.
Other platforms and services
