Sharing Spotify: €4.08 on GamsGo against €12.99 Individual – or Family at €3.67

In short: A shared Spotify slot on GamsGo costs €4.08 a month – your own account inside a Premium Family plan. Spotify itself charges €12.99 for Premium Individual and €21.99 for Family (six accounts). The catch: Family is tied to a shared address, and Spotify occasionally checks it. We run the routes.

Prices below are for Germany, where GamsGo bills in euros. Spotify pricing differs by country – check your own market before comparing.

What Spotify Premium costs in 2026

Plan per month per year Accounts Condition
Premium Individual €12.99 €155.88 1 none
Premium Duo €17.99 €215.88 2 same address
Premium Family €21.99 €263.88 6 same address
Premium Student €6.99 €83.88 1 proof of enrolment, max. 4 years

Arithmetically a Family seat costs €3.67 – if six people share one address. For most people that is not the case, and that is where sharing platforms come in.

Spotify and the address

According to Spotify, Duo and Family are for people “living at the same address”. Each member enters the address when joining, and Spotify may ask again later – usually via location sharing in the app. Anyone who fails the check is removed from the Family plan; the account itself continues as a free account. In practice Spotify asks rarely, but not never.

For a shared slot this means the group owner has to cooperate when a check comes. GamsGo handles this through the group administrator; if a slot fails, you get a replacement. Spotify offers no extra member as Netflix does – the alternative to a shared slot is simply the Individual plan.

The arithmetic side by side

Route per month per year risk
Premium Individual €12.99 €155.88 none
Premium Duo, split by 2 €9.00 €107.94 none, same address required
Premium Family, split by 6 €3.67 €43.98 none, same address required
Premium Student €6.99 €83.88 none, proof required
Shared slot on GamsGo €4.08 €48.96 see below

Against the Individual plan the shared slot saves €106.92 a year. If you can fill a Family plan with five flatmates or relatives, €3.67 is even cheaper – and there is no platform in between.

Which route fits

  • Family or flat-share with up to six people at one address? Your own Family plan, €21.99 split. The best route and the official one.
  • Two of you at one address? Duo at €17.99 – €9.00 each, with the shared “Duo Mix” playlist.
  • On your own, not a student? The shared slot at €4.08 – a third of the Individual price.
  • Students: Student at €6.99 with SheerID verification. Cheaper than a shared slot? No – but with no dependence.

What you accept with a shared slot

  • Your own account, someone else’s plan. With a Spotify Family slot you use your own Spotify account, which is invited into the Family group. Playlists, history and recommendations stay yours – even after a group change. That is the big difference from Netflix or Disney+.
  • Address checks. Spotify may verify the address. The group owner then has to respond; GamsGo provides a replacement if a slot fails.
  • The Family owner can see you. They see your account name in the group management, not your listening habits.
  • No VPN needed. The slot sits in a German Family plan; a VPN changes nothing and is more likely to stand out during an address check.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep my playlists?
Yes. You join with your existing account; if the group changes, the account briefly reverts to free and is then re-invited.

Do Spotify Connect, offline mode and audiobooks work?
All Premium features – offline downloads, Spotify Connect, higher bitrate – apply to every Family member. The monthly audiobook allowance, however, goes to the Family owner only.

What about Spotify Kids?
The kids’ app is part of Family and available to all members.

Is Deezer or Tidal worth considering instead?
Both are also available shared on GamsGo (Deezer €2.96, Tidal €3.58). Tidal offers hi-res audio, Deezer a catalogue similar to Spotify’s. If you want Spotify’s algorithm and podcasts, stay with Spotify.

Other platforms and services

Spliiit, Sharesub, GoSplit and CooSub work in a similar way. The same arithmetic applies to YouTube Premium (including YouTube Music) and Crunchyroll. All services with prices are in our GamsGo overview.

Our verdict: If you can fill a Family plan at one address, you don’t need a platform. If you listen alone, a shared slot saves €106.92 a year against Individual – and you keep your own account and playlists. That makes Spotify the least complicated case among shared subscriptions.
