Sharing Microsoft 365: Family at €1.79 per person beats the €4.29 GamsGo slot

In short: A shared Microsoft 365 slot on GamsGo costs €4.29 a month. Microsoft 365 Single costs €99 a year (€8.25 a month) – so the slot is cheaper. But Microsoft 365 Family at €129 a year can officially be shared by up to six people, with no shared-address requirement. That works out at €1.79 per person per month – making Microsoft the service where the official route beats the platform.

Prices below are for Germany, where GamsGo bills in euros. Microsoft pricing differs by country – check your own market before comparing.

What Microsoft 365 costs in 2026

Microsoft renamed its consumer plans in early 2026: “Personal” is now “Single”. The prices:

Plan per year per month (monthly plan) People Includes
Microsoft 365 Basic €24 €2 1 100 GB OneDrive, ad-free Outlook, web apps only
Microsoft 365 Single €99 €10 1 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook desktop apps, 1 TB OneDrive, Copilot credits
Microsoft 365 Family €129 €13 up to 6 as Single, 1 TB per person

Why Microsoft is the special case

With Netflix and Disney+, sharing is tied to the household; with Spotify, to the address. Microsoft 365 Family has no such condition: the owner invites up to five other people by e-mail – siblings, parents, friends in other cities. Each person signs in with their own Microsoft account, gets their own terabyte of OneDrive and installs Office on up to five of their own devices. The owner only sees who is a member, not their files.

That is exactly what sharing platforms rebuild for other services – here it is built in and legal. The maths: €129 divided by six is €21.50 a year per person.

The arithmetic side by side

Route per month per year risk
Microsoft 365 Single €8.25 €99 none
Family, split by 2 €5.38 €64.50 none
Shared slot on GamsGo €4.29 €51.48 see below
Family, split by 3 €3.58 €43.00 none
Family, split by 6 €1.79 €21.50 none
Microsoft 365 Basic €2 €24 none, but web apps only

The GamsGo slot is cheaper than Single but, from three people upwards, more expensive than a self-shared Family plan. And with a GamsGo slot you may be using someone else’s account and OneDrive; with Family, your own.

Which route fits

  • You know two or more people who need Office? Buy Family and share it – €43 a year for three, €21.50 for six. Best route, no debate.
  • You are on your own and know nobody? The shared slot at €4.29 saves €47.52 a year against Single. But with someone else’s account – see below.
  • You only need the occasional Word document? The web versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint are free; Basic at €24 adds 100 GB storage and ad-free Outlook.
  • Office without a subscription? Office Home 2024 is a one-off €149 and runs without the cloud; LibreOffice is free and opens every Office file.

What you accept with a shared slot

  • Someone else’s account or a Family invitation? GamsGo has both: some listings invite your own Microsoft account into a Family group (then all Family benefits apply, own OneDrive included), others hand out credentials for a ready-made account. Look for “Family invitation” when booking – only that is equivalent to the official route.
  • OneDrive belongs to the account. With a ready-made account your documents live in a stranger’s storage. Unsuitable for tax records, contracts or job applications.
  • Group changes. If the group ends, Office has to be reactivated. Local files remain.

Frequently asked questions

Does Office then run on all my devices?
Yes, every person in a Family plan may install Office on five PCs or Macs, five tablets and five phones.

Do I get Copilot?
Single and Family have included monthly AI credits for Copilot in Word, Excel and PowerPoint since 2025. In Family they apply per person.

Does the Family owner have to live in Germany?
No. Family works across countries; only billing runs through the owner’s country.

What about Office 365 Business?
Different licences, different prices. The plans here are for private individuals.

Other platforms and services

Spliiit, Sharesub, GoSplit and CooSub work in a similar way. With Adobe Creative Cloud the situation is reversed: a big price gap but no official route. All services with prices are in our GamsGo overview.

Our verdict: Microsoft built sharing itself. A Family plan shared by three or more beats any platform – legal, with your own account and your own storage. The GamsGo slot only makes sense for someone who genuinely has nobody to share with, and then preferably as a Family invitation.
